SILKIn early 2009, Mai started using silk as a medium to express her creativity. Water color on silk has a different feel to it. Stretched, a piece of silk becomes translucent, and it serves as a very elegant and fine backdrop for Mai to work on. Comparing silk painting to other more conventional media, one can see that the completed artwork is much more subtle and understated visually. The interplay between the material and the colors serves to convey a vision that is gentle, soothing and gives the viewers a sense of tranquility and peace.
