Mai had dabbled in lacquer painting earlier on and she revisited this medium of creativity in 2007 in a much more serious manner.

Mai has much fewer lacquer paintings compared to her canvas work. This is not surprising as a piece of lacquer painting requires painstaking work, sometimes taking a few months to create.

The paintings on display here are mainly acrylic with a few examples of her earlier work with oil thrown in.
